Long Island Transportation Management (LITM), Inc., is strongly committed to providing a safe online experience for all visitors to our Web site. Please take a moment to review this policy, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.


Visitor Information
LITM does not require visitors to our Web site to submit any information about themselves or the organizations they represent. Any information visitors do submit is done so on a voluntary basis and at the visitor's discretion.
In order for LITM to analyze the traffic flow of our Web site, our web hosting service may collect a visitor's IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type, domain name and access times. Information submitted to LITM will be used appropriately, enabling us to:

  • Fulfill various requests for information
  • Better understand the commuter-related issues facing Long Islanders
  • Improve the quality of our Web site
  • Generate statistics regarding Web site usage

Ridematch Applications & GO
Visitors to our Web site have a unique opportunity to join a database of thousands of Long Islander's searching for carpool and vanpool partners. There is no obligation to do so. Once you complete an online Ridematch Application, your information will be stored in our secured database.

As a result of submitting your application, and with your consent, your information may be shared with other carpoolers and published in our bi-monthly publication, GO. There is no charge for this service. By adding your name and commute information to our database, you increase your chances of a ridesharing match. You will also receive a free copy of GO in the mail.

You may request the removal of your information at any time by sending an email to: margueritei@litm.org.

Disclosure of Information
Information submitted online will not be sold or made available to any other organization, except as noted.

We reserve the right to use or disclose any information without notice or consent as needed to satisfy any law, regulation or legal requirement or request; to conduct investigations of consumer complaints or possible breaches of law; to protect the integrity of our site and our property; to protect the safety of our visitors or others; to fulfill your requests; or to cooperate in any legal investigation.

Use of Cookies
The LITM Web site does not use cookies, which automatically store small amounts of data on the site visitor's computer.

Removal of Information
At any time, visitors can ask that their application information be removed and not included in any future communications from LITM. To do so, visitors should simply send an email to LITM's Webmaster at margueritei@litm.org.

Information Security
LITM limits employee access to all information submitted. Once submitted, the information is maintained offline in a controlled, secure environment. To maintain the highest level of security, LITM conducts internal reviews of our security measures on a regular basis.

In compliance with the Privacy Policy and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), LITM will not knowingly accept information from children under the age of 13. If a child under the age of 13 does submit information online, it will be permanently deleted once identified.

Visitors from Outside the United States
Our Web site and the servers that make this site available worldwide are located in the United States. All matters relating to this site are governed by the laws of the United States and the laws of the State of New York in the United States. Any information you provide will be transferred to the United States. By visiting our site and submitting information, you authorize this transfer.


Changes to Our Privacy Policy
LITM will occasionally update this Privacy Policy as necessary to maintain the highest protection for our users and to comply with a changing environment. We recommend that you check the policy when you visit our site to be sure you are aware of and understand our current policy. If we make material changes to this policy or in how we will use or collect your personally identifiable information, we will prominently post such changes prior to implementing the changes.


Linked Internet Web sites
LITM has generated hyperlinks to numerous sites that we believe may be of interest to our visitors. We do not control the privacy policies of other sites to which we may provide hyperlinks, and the privacy policies of any of these third parties may differ from ours. When you hyperlink to the Web site of one of these sites, you are subject to their privacy policies and not those of LITM. LITM is not responsible for such provisions and expressly disclaims any and all liability related to the privacy policy or practices of such other Web sites.
